Into the Night

Just testing out how this iMeem thing works :D

Holidays...like woosh

Geez, these holidays went SOOO QUICK! Insanity. I got all of my Christmas shopping done...not really in the happiest mood though, it seemed like all of my initial ideas got SHOT DOWN. and so I had to go to like multiple stores to find what I wanted, and I didn't seem to get one day at home before Christmas, so I was sorta Grinchy. Christmas came though, and I got a BEAUTIFUL blanket from my aunt (handmade) and some warm fuzzy socks, lots of jackets and slug-wear :D some cool calenders and a greys anatomy board game which I can place with my friends or at home WHOOT! :D

Just got back from southern California. We went to Knotts Berry Farm and Universal Studios. I hadn't been to Knotts since I was 4 maybe, definitely too small to ride most of the rides. But it's been a few years and I've grown a few feet LoL, and we went on ALL of the huge fast rides. They have some pretty good rides they, but they aren't, as my sister would say "Disney efficient." So some of the lines took quite a while. :( But still it wasn't that crowded at all, and my legs weren't completely dead after. That night we ate at Mrs. Knotts famous fried chicken restaurant. The fried chicken was good and moist, but it wasn't like extra crispy fried chicken, just like flour, not really battered. I definitely had my fill of boysenberry though :D. Boysenberry funnel cake, boysenberry punch and of course boysenberry pie :D. It was great. :)

Then we went to Universal Studios, which was again a lot more crowded than I remember. But then again, it was a saturday this year. We went on the 29th this year and last year we went on the 27th. But last year it was practically empty! They had pretty long lines at universal, but they moved pretty quickly which seems a whole lot better than if you're in a "short" line that takes forever to move! But they had already taken out back to the future :( sad. They're going to build some Simpsons ride...which I think is a bit weird, but oookay.

Besides sharing a bed with my sister, it was a totally awesome trip :)

I got a LOT of stuff done...considering how not productive I've been lately LoL. I went to the bank to cash a check that I've had since the beginning of december, I finally opened an letter which I got around dec. 12th LoL, I went to exchange a gift, I emailed a lot of people I needed to, I bought a late christmas gift I'm going to give someone at school...I just did a lot YAY! Ooh and I got word back from ISV, although I'm trying to change my host country...we'll see how that goes. I hope I don't have to call them, but I just might. Uhm...and walked a dog for a bit. lots of stuff :) yay!

Tomorrow I'm going to revert back to vegetating.

Gracias, Merci, Danke, Grazie, Thank You.

Es ist gut. Finals aren't every very fun, but what makes them better? The same thing that makes everything better, COOKIES! more specifically, BUTTERCOOKIES! Everything is better with butter! :D So I wasn't planning on checking my mail box, but I carry this silly hope of mail, so I like to check it every few days or so, and usually it's empty, but yesterday, it contained MAIL!!!!!! WHOOT!

I got a Christmas card from my mom, :D :D Which I was uber excited about in itself, and it also contained the little slip that says I have something large enough it won't fit in our boxes! WHOOT! The little paper said "over sized envelope" so I was like...uh maybe someone sent pictures? or something from EAP or something, but as the guy fished out through the packages, he brought out this big envelope with what looked like some sort of square box inside. So I get back to the apartment and open it up and it's a BOX FULL OF BUTTER COOKIES! Home made from my Auntie Karen.

I feel soooooo good right now. I don't know if good is the way to put it, probably not...but then again I'm a marine bio major, not a lit one. LoL I just feel so special and lucky that I have such great family members. My aunt who mails cookies to me during finals :D and my aunt who sends me back to Santa Cruz with a cacti garden, that day and tons of awesome food to remind me of home and my mom who sends me greeting cards for Thanksgiving and Christmas and just because, just so I have some mail to pick up. :D

That's definitely a huge part of my life, but also my college life is awesome. I'm going through the motions of classes, and that's the "work" hard part of it, but the "play" hard of it is so good. Before I moved here, I knew it would be a change and everything, but I didn't expect it to be this good, and now that I'm here, I know what a unique experience it is and will be.

I am just really appreciative of all aspects and people in my life right now. and I am DEFINITELY not taking it for granted, I'm taking and holding on for all it's worth. :D

Brush that dirt off your shoulder

DAMN I've been slacking. Brush that dust off the blog...A convenient time for me to finally post in. When I'm supposed to be studying for the first of my "finals" LoL oops. It's really still a quiz, we have three quizzes throughout the year, and no "final" each quiz is %25 of our grade. I"m not too worried, hence my blog entry LoL, Monday I'm more freaked out 60% of my genetics grade rides on monday. I hate that feeling. and I don't really feel like I've learned anything. it's a weird feeling. I'm just freaking out about that class and my coping mechanism is to suppress it. not the best, but eh. I have all day tomorrow (after 10:40am) and then there's a study group from 4-7pm and then on saturday another review session. Just thank god I have no papers. I hate papers....they scare me.

I finally got my EAP application in. Mucho drama at the end there. Long story short, I had issues contacting my instructor and so after a month of going back and forth, she forgot to write it for me, and I had to turn in my application 3 days after they started accepting applications. Which I thought wasn't too bad, because when I went to a drop in office hour, the adviser told me that "it didn't fill up in the first day, but it does by the end" ....but yeah. So it took a while for the letter to get to me, and then I emailed the adviser how many spots were left (because it's essentially first come first served for qualified applicants) and so I got the email that said she had received 4 apps for 5 spots. I had turned in my application first thing that morning...so I really hope I was the fifth app. I don't what I'll do if I'm not :( I sent her an email asking about it, but she's out of the office from wed-fri, so I won't get a response no earlier than monday. :( I'm slightly stressed out about that, but then I've done what I can now, so there's nothing else I have control over.

Things at school have been going well otherwise. Normal day to day stuff, with lots of naps in between ;D I went home two weeks in a row, and BOY did I hear it from the housemates. Even though I had reasons, first week was Thanksgiving of course and second weekend was I went home because we bought and decorated our Christmas tree! YAY! looks pretty awesome. So yeah got a lot of slack for that LoL...but it's better than them wanting to kick me out ;)

Had a good breakfast for lunch today with Susan and Caroline :D went to the owl's nest before they stopped serving breakfast, that place is CRACKIN' at least at around 9:45-10:20am....which is the time I was there waiting in line and waiting for my food. Met up with Suze and Caroline at 11 ish, Caroline treated for drinks and I brought french toast and muffins ;D TASTY!!!!

Lots of little things in between. uhm....I have a new love for imeem, it went lost on me for so long LoL.

Okay study break over, back to studying for Earth Catastrophes! :D...yay? remember folks, Oil and Otters don't mix :(

I should do this more often really.

By the way, tonight is the first rain since sometime in october, FINALLY I love the rain here, it's so misty and ethereal :D *sigh* and so cleansing, plus it makes the tree smell like 5000x more, it's like putting in a new pine tree air freshener outside :D AWESOME!

Kicking butt!.....untill my butt gets kicked...

I just got my results from my first university "quiz" (quiz that's worth %25 of our grade LoL) but I got an 86% :D Which is pretty good considering the average was 68 and it pretty much looked like a bell curve. So to curve it a bit, he's adding 11 points to everyone's score :) and that means I have a 97 :D

All that's great and well, but this is my lower division class and it was probably the easiest out of all my classes. Genetics on Tuesday...is going to kick my butt. I just blank when I try to do those problems and that midterm is 40% of my grade, so I can't mess up this up. Then Thursday I have my biostats "quiz" :( better than genetics, but still :(. At least after next week, I won't have exams for a while :) and I'll have a reason to celebrate! whoot!

WHAT THE HECK IS UP WITH THIS FLIPPIN WEATHER?! It's 76 degrees outside! and it's only 11am! :( It's practically November, what the heck? At 9:15 this morning I walked out and it must have been 70, way too hot. :( Although if this keeps up, it may call for a celebratory visit to the beach next Friday :D

MAAAAAAADNESS BEDLAM! INSANITY! And I'm right in the middle...and loving it :D College is so different and so not at the same time. It's crazy. classes haven't really started yet, just a lot of intro. Genetics is 40/60 midterm and final, so that's a bit scary...probably a LOT scarier when it comes to midterms and finals time LoL. Stats seems alright, the instructor seems really nice and the grade is spread amongst quizzes, homework and exams, so not so bad. Earth catastrophes is three exams throughout the quarter and homework problems. *takes a deep breath*

Outside of school is great :) I'm getting along with my roomies "quite" well :D and having lots of fun with them :) I need some pictures of them soon :D as soon as I get some they'll be up

...Captain's Log Day 3 09222007

So three days in, first day was...alone. second day was sucky :( didn't really meet anyone and got back to the apartment at 4:30 LoL had reheated spaghetti (which was actually quite good :) but had no one to hang out with. Yesterday, I met one of my apartment mates :) who has mild dementia when he ingests milk, but other than that, seems very cool :) And I met someone else in the building across from me who's very cool, we're very much on the same page :) things are looking up...but I haven't even started classes yet :/

Movin' on in

Gah, it's times like these when I get reminded about how totally socially inept I am! Either everyone already went to the workshops this morning knowing someone (unlikely) or they met them there. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong, but I suck at meeting people LoL Hopefully things will be a little bit better once my roommates get here, but they've been here for two quarters and probably already have friends to hang out with here. :(

Moving here wasn't so bad. The parking thing is a bit confusing, I thought you buy a pass in the lot you're in, but actually you have to go to this tiny little parking hut at the bottom of the hill and buy a pass for the day. Once we got that though, we couldn't find parking! :( I'm not sure why so many cars were here, not that many people were moving in... But after about 40 minutes of driving around looking for parking and stuff, we found one space (but we had two cars). I went wandering around for the residential life housing office...which was not where it was supposed to be, because they had a freaking old map posted on the website GAH!. So I went two different places before I found where I needed to be, but once I got there, I got my key and ID card and such :) very good. We got to the apartment building and I'm in the building with an elevator WHOOT! very nice especially considering I'm on the fourth floor, made moving in a lot easier.

So I got everything settled and now I'm here by myself until the other people in the apartment come in on saturday. I expect it to be a mad house here LoL. Some things I learned...turn on the thermostat, it's not automatic. THEY DON'T SUPPLY YOU WITH TOILET PAPER! ...good thing I brought my own.

I hope things get better Saturday. Had a crappy night's sleep :( I like my own bed way more, and going to these workshops is freaking me out about the workload. bleh.

I suppose that's it for now...

After listening to "Don't look back in anger" I'm just coming down to the extremely frusterated level...

"And I regret to say that there were moments when my deep and loving pity for her merged into a desire to kick her fairly hard. For she is a girl who cannot walk her troubles off, or work them off; she is a girl to sit around and glare."
pg 72 I Capture the Castle.

A hand to hold...

THE DOCTOR:
There's a lot of things you need to get across this universe. (indicates) Warp drive... wormhole refractors...

Rose holds her hand out.

THE DOCTOR
You know the thing you need most of all? You need a hand to hold.

He notices Rose's outstretched hand and takes it, grinning.

David Tennant Singing and Eating Ice Cream

...Quite possibly the most entertaining 31 seconds of my life. (oh, to be an ice cream cone) I wish I could have caught Blackpool when it was airing.

Housing worries

I am so very very frusterated. Arugh. I should have gotten something from the housing office...but I haven't. It's been a week since they should have sent out our packets and I haven't received anything...I also haven't received any other messages besides 1 from possible roommates. Which gives me just an teency silver of hope that maybe no one else has gotten anything either. But then the one girl that did send me a message (that was on august 27th or something) said that she had gotten at least two pieces of mail from them since. And I have gotten zilch. So tomorrow I'm going to be calling the housing office and trying to speak as calmly as possible. And seriously hope that the U.S. postal service has not screwed me over...YET again.

Arugh. The worst part is that I can't do anything but stress out right now because it's 8:51pm and the office, sadly, is not open 24 hours a day. I wish there was a pressure release valve in my head...THAT would be awesome!

Plane

I feel like I've agreed to board a plane to an unknown destination, and now I'm secured in and awaiting takeoff. There's a bit of excitement that usually comes along with going on a plane ride, the possibilities of adventure in a new land, but there's also this anxiety that the plane could go crashing down in a fiery inferno 2 minutes after takeoff. Or it could be slow and painful as pieces of the plane fall off one by one and you fall from an even higher point into a fiery inferno.

Good Busy

Late Happy 4th of July..man. Saturday, Had a rousing success of a BBQ at ...the park across the street from the Berkeley Rose Garden...started with a C and was just unecessarily long. LoL Slightly confusing and bumpy start, but then everyone arrived and it was just an immense amount of fun :)

Great food, brought by everyone. We did some hiking, which really thrilled Elisa, and even some climbing...LoL that was definitely one of the funnier points of the day, I was laughing my butt off while Tiff and Elisa were coming up. So then dinner at Gerry's Grill, wasn't bad, we ordered some pretty good stuff, the grilled squid I could have done without, but watching Jeffery trying to eat the "head" was pretty funny. Ahhh and then surprising Tiffany with the cake. AWESOME. And she actually seemed genuinely surprised :) Very exciting :)

Then Tuesday I went to the A's game, where they won, yay!...but still it's baseball and wasn't all too interesting, but the fireworks at the end were really good :) And I got a malted ice cream :)

Wed, actual fourth of July, to satisfy Elisa's desire for a fireworks show and because Elisa plans super awesome random days :D and because fireworks are pretty cool [well the cube ones anyways] we went to San Francisco, to see them go off. Had dinner at North Beach Pizza out on Pier 39, really good pizza, pasta, eh. Then we walked down past Fisherman's Wharf to Ghiridelli Square and sat on one of the few remaining pieces of grass, still good seats :) Phillip joined us afterwards and since he hadn't eaten, we went to go find him something to eat, sadly, he had chosen the restaurant with the DECEIVINGLY short line, only about 12 people in front of us and it took over 45 minutes, it was just absurdly long and slow. *grr* Still got back in time for the fireworks and even had time to learn a new drinking game. That can still be played without alcohol :) Leaving that area was just madness though, a whole lot of cars just basically stopped everywhich way. Finally got out, dropped Phillip off at his place and then got back home at 1am or so...

Thursday, went to Six Flags..uhm discovery ....something? Marine World Africa USA. Whoo! ROTFL. :) With my mom and sister, went on a few rides, saw a few shows, had to wait in an absurdly long line because of absurdly slow attendees again. But other than that, a really good day. It was sunny, and like high 80's low 90's but a wind was passing through, so it wasn't unbearable. :)

Today, deal with everything in real life, i.e. making appointments to talk to biology advisors, fill out health form stuff to let the school know I'm not a leper...still have to get more shots probably...ah but overall very relaxing day at home WHOOT!
:)

MOST awesome way to kick off the summer :)

Ack! So much done, so little time! :) I don't do anything for 5 months...and then I do a whole lotta something. This, I like. If this is any idication of the summer months to come, I think it'll be quite the fun, if not interesting, summer :)

So Thursday 5/24 last day of finals boy that one was a doozy...but all is done. Sigh of relief, not necessarily joy but relief at least :) Asked Chrissy if she wanted to go to lunch, but I was DE-NIED :(

Friday 5/25 Went to lunch with Tiffany! :) Good Mexican food and good talk, couldn't ask for anything better :) Good way to eaaaase into the beginning of summer break :)

Saturday 5/26 Didn't do anything for most of the day, was a freaking lazy bum LoL then I went out to Best Buy to go buy the James Morrison CD (which was one of the "best buys" of the year AH! geddit! LoL. and then I wanted to buy the new Plain White T's CD with the song Hey There Delilah, but they ran out ah friggin a. Oh well.

Then I get a random missed call from elisa...and a voice mail :) yay! so I gave it a listen...and well with such a persuasive voice message like that I couldn't not go :) so at around 5:00pm Elisa came over, Benny was supposed to come over as well, but apparently he had to help his cousin do something so he was late...either way he was "very very sorry" LoL so we forgave him. And then we embarked on our adventure :)

So when Benny came over we spent a little while decided on where to go, and then we just decided that Chuck E. Cheese in San Jose was definitely on the list so we'd go there, and figure out where to eat from there. Elisa and I both wanted Italian, so yay for trusty handy dandy GPS system, got to Chuck E. Cheese and then searched for italian restaurants around there. Okay, so after searching through 5 billion lame pizza places with lame pizza place names...I found Il Fornaio I told them it was good, a bit pricey, but not too bad. So we ended up going there. When we first got there, everyone was dressed up all nice. I had been to the one in Burlingame and I never dressed up...so that was a bit weird, and then when we told the hostess that we wanted a table for three she gave us the weirdest look...but we got seated anyways. We had a waiter who's great-grandfather donated the land on which UC Davis is built (totally random) LoL and who I thought looked like Biff (sp?) from back to the future, Elisa and Benny disagree, but they're probably right since I've only seen back to the future about 0.5 times. The waiter asked what we were doing after or if we were there for any special events...thinking that going to Chuck E Cheese was not an "event" we just said we were just eating and hanging out. Then we asked him what sort of events were going on and he was like oh 2 graduations, that convention, there was a music concert, symphony or opera (I forget) and the people next to us just came from a funeral.

As we were walking there, though there were a TON of people going to the convention center, and Benny was intrigued, I admit, I was intrigued as well once I saw two guys dressed up a Mario and Luigi LoL so we asked someone on the way and apparently there was an Anime convention that day at the convention center across the street. On our way out there were definitely a bunch of interesting costumes we passed :)

Then on the way to Chuck E. Cheese :) We got there at like 8 at night so there weren't too many kids around, although there were more than I thought there'd be that late. We played some ticket games, Elisa got some super good luck and hit the 150 on one of those "hit-the-button-to-make-it-stop-on-the-amount-of-tickets-you-want-to-get"..games. And we totally cheated on those smash the allegator games LoL And of course I had to play one of thse Skee ball games the first time I just totally sucked butt at it and then the second time I redeemed myself and found that I am infinitely better when using my left hand to throw, interestingly enough.

Then we went up stairs to play some arcade games, I'm terrible at those shooting games LoL We played a car racing game which I ended up in first place only because Benny's car malfunctioned at the start of the race and I drove Elisa off the road in the last lap LoL She was ahead of me for 7 of the 8 laps and then near the end I got close and "accidently" drove her off the road LoL :)

The last bit when we were counting I spotted a cup full of tickets...no one else seemed to be around and no one else claimed, so we took it and it was full of about 70 tickets :) Overall we made 250 tickets exactly. but OMG. freakin' a, there was a TON of people waiting in line at the prize desk and there were only 2 people. And it seemed like everyone ahead of us had like 25000 tickets to spend geez! So we spent like half an hour in that line alone, but we weren't going to waste our tickets since we probably weren't going to be going back. And so when we finally got up there, Elisa and Benny got cotton candy for 200 tickets and then I got 5 bracelets :) two of which glow in the dark :) awesome!

So then it was about 21:30 and then we went off to see Pirates of the Caribbean :) Yay again for the handy dandy GPS system :) which found us a movie theater, turns out there was a drive in theater right next to it, but it was a bit late for that...maybe some other time :) Anyways, yeah and we got there just in time for the last showing at 10:30. And we got student rates so it was only $8.50 :) I thought it was a pretty good movie, definitely didn't deserve the lashing it got from the critics, but oh well. A bit of a long movie...we got out 1:30am? or so...then benny drove back. But when we got out of the theater, we waited until the end of the credits to see the little movie clip at the end :) There was NOBODY left! The whole place was freaking empty, we didn't even see any employees ready to close up...just the lights on at the concessions! It was freaky like something in 28 Days.
Eventually got to sleep at 2:30am Oh well I knew it was nearly three hours when I agreed to go, and I also knew I had to get up at 6:45am the next morning too, but such is the price to pay for fun :) and Fun I did have.

Sunday 5/27 Rolled out of bed at 6:45am and spend the morning at the zoo, came home, showered, ate and napped yeaaaaaaaah :) And also found out that we're not going to be changing our starting time from 8:00 to 8:30 so early days only now *sniff*

Monday 5/28 Off to Davis :) Elisa came by at about 9:15am or so and we left for Davis :) We went to Benny's house because we were following him there, then we made a pit stop at 7-11 LoL :) And off we went, traffic wasn't bad at all and we got there at about 10:45am.

We went to eat at Fuji's which apparently everyone knows you have to line up at if you want to eat when the open....we got there at 10:45 and there were more than 70 people ahead of us and the restaurant doesn't even open till freaking 11:30! people were all serious with their fold out chairs and everything! So we waited in line, where Jeffery met us there, talked for a bit, had to pull all the freaking bugs out of our hair every 5 minutes, eventually we got up there. Definitely did not get in for the first seating, we put our name down and the dude told us to come back 20 or 30 minutes, so we walked around a bit. :) Went back, but they still weren't ready and so about an hour later we got seated, luckily at the bar though, cause then we didn't even have to get up to get the sushi. I definitely ate my fill, good sushi even more awesome oranges :D

Then we went back to Benny and Jeffery's place, hung out there for a bit, definitely a boy's apartment, both Elisa and I asked if there were any towels to dry your hands on after you wash them LoL no. :( Hung out for a bit, Watched some car race with a driver named "Farnbacher" but the way the announcer said it sounded like "Faanbaakah" Had a few laughs, then spent 10 minutes trying to convince the Katherine Heigl and Ashley Judd are two different people! LoL Then after messing with Elisa's foreign phone, we left Jeffery to "study."

We went to one of the transfer dorms, but couldn't get in because all the doors were locked, Elisa couldn't really see how they looked inside :( Then we went to the athletic center where Benny rented some ping-pong equipment and we played in the gym. Benny decided it's now pong ping ping pong LoL if the game of pong represents just the paddle sounds. ah it's a complicated conversation LoL After a while of ping pong, Benny suggested we try raquetball. Sounded like a good idea at the time.

It is so crazy, you're in this giant room two regular walls and two walls made of like bulletproof glass, high intensity, will not shatter stuff. and you have to hit the ball against the back wall and then the other person has to hit it, and all the while you have to run for you life trying not to get hit LoL yes. Not exacly the game for people wearing flip-flops, i.e. me. LoL Still a fun game for unathletic people like me though because you don't have to go chasing for the freaking ball and you just have to hit a wall :) so it was a lot of fun, but they seriously need to pump some more air conditioning in those rooms, it was so freaking hot by the end LoL

Then we went to get Jamba Juice to rehydrate :) and we also wandered through Borders for a bit as well :) Overall awesome weather, it was a little hot in the afternoon, but nothing unbearable :) 80 something in the shade :)

Then we picked Jeffery back up for dinner and we headed out to Cattlemans's for their Monday night special $1 beef ribs :) Elisa and I ate two each, and that was plenty for me, Jeffery ate three I think and Benny ate four. They were really good, tender and tasty :) And we split from there for the night :)

And

Tuesday 5/29 I went to a party like I had never been to before. But I think I'll write about that later because I think I'm getting carpool tunnel syndrome. ;)

Time to unwind

FREEEEEEEEEDOMMMMM :) Finally done with exams...doing well on 2 outta 4...well that's okay right? ...*calculates* wait..that's like 50%...maybe not so good, oh well as long as they're done. I'm just sorta mad because I had a bad case of test anxiety and totally freaked out on my first ochem one, I went home later that day and realized I screwed up on a bunch of stuff that I really did know. arugh. I just really want a B in that class, I got a B on my past exams and my labs and such...plllllllllease just lemme get through that with a B :)

I have no idea what to do with myself now though LoL I've been stressing and focusing all of my energy on that so far, I just am at a loss now LoL. mmm me thinkith it's time for a new hat. or at least to try and make a hat period. hm...

uhmmmmmm besides that I think I need to do some shopping and some definite unwinding is in order :)

HOT.

AYYYYYYYYE AYE AYE AYEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

I have a bio lab practical I should be studying for...but I am soooo not in the mood to study. I am just feeling so bummed, and it's like 80 degrees outside and I have to sit in classrooms all day. I just wish that school could be ooooverrrr. Although I'm not sure what I'd be doing instead...Probably interrupting Janice's or Chrissy's lives. Actually calling tiffany, since I now know that the fact she is constantly busy is actually a myth. So..after school lets maybe something fun...a movie. I haven't seen a movie in a while. Pirates of the Carribean: At World's End comes out the day after finals end...coincidence? I think not.

Oh well, back to studying monocot shoot monkey faces, and phloem sap yuuuuuum.

As they say, you can wish in one hand and crap in the other, and see which gets filled first. I'll give you three guesses.

Spring Break

WHOOT. WHOOT WHOOT indeed.

Soooo. totally awesome spring break :)

Monday went to Napa with my aunt and my sister. Did some major eating :D First went to this place called Copia, it's a small food museum type of place. They have a gallery upstairs and an exhibit about food, pretty fun and interactive :) And they also had a food demo based on their theme this month, which is Australia. So the food demo was for ginger and macadamia nuts (which originated from Australia, not Hawaii as most people think). There were also a sample of this flavored salmon made into a panini sandwich. GOOD! :D

Then we went to Dean and Delucas :D awesome! bought some cookies there and went to the vineyard across the street to get some lunch. They have a deli there and so my sister and I shared an Italian sandwich and we ate outside in a picnic type area.

We had dinner at this restaurant called "Ad Hoc" which was opened by Thomas Keller (of French Laundry fame) and was suppose to be temporary, but turned out to be such a hit that he kept it open. It's a great laid back place not stuffy at all, but some really awesome food. They have a set menu every night, and they only serve that set menu (you can ask what it is before you make reservations though). Monday night was fried chicken. :D There was a salad of baby green (i'm not much of a salad person :( ), then buttermilk fried chicken, collard greens and pancheta, roasted baby potatos :D awesome! Then there was a cheese course, sooo creamy served with a kumquat marmalade and an upside down banana cake with vanilla coconut ice cream for dessert. It's safe to say I left feeling quite satisfied :D
They also served the best ginger ale I have ever had there. Vernors, apparently it's more a localized thing in detroit, but it's sooooo goooooddd!

Tuesday: WHEE FUN DAY! The fabuloso Janice and Chrissy came to surprise me. Sorta, they were here in my driveway for like 10 minutes before I actally knew they were there. They called, but it showed up as out of area (even though it was a 510 number) :( so I didn't pick up, then I checked my cell phone and saw the missed calls...oops. LoL So I got ready to go and we went out to eat lunch at sushi avenue :) Sushi is good. Then Chrissy drove us to Stoneridge mall WHOOT I haven't been to the mall in such a long time before that. Chrissy and Janice both bought new shoes...I however lose. :( No new shoes for me. Although It would have been awesome if that song "New Shoes" by Paulo Nutini would have started playing LoL

Then back to Chrissy's house for Chicken and Rice. I hadn't had that in such a long time *sniff* brought back so many good memories :) so many tasty memories :) And jonesing for something sweet, we went to bakers square for pie. taaaaasty pie. (All this after telling myself I'd eat light cause of all the eating major I did the day before...oops)

Wednesday and Thursday...school work days. Got some stuff done, but probably not as much as I should have oops. hey it's spring break.

Friday, I had to go to the museum for an art history paper I have to write. My mom said she'd go with me..cause I didn't really wanna go there by myself. We went to the Legion of Honor in SF, beautiful works there :) There were quite a few artists in the gallery working on replicating works of art. So cool to see them in action, I wish I had talent...any talent LoL. Found a few paintings I could do, I just have to choose one later. Shady business though, on the wall at the admissions desk they list all of the prices, adult, child, people who take public transit even get discounted, but they don't list that they have a student discount rate, unless you ask. So if you don't ask then you get ripped off $4! lame. Those tickets are also good for their sister museum the De Young in Golden Gate park, so we went to lunch. Pretty good chinese place noodles and dumplings my favorite :) And then headed to the other museum. The De Young is more modern, like from the 1700's and on...The really modern stuff, I don't get....but seeing the stuff from 1800's-1900's were really cool. and then back home :)

Saturday. Oddly enough Friday the 13th went really well...Saturday the 14th, however I just can't say the same. So I was sorta excited, going out on my first trip where I'd actually have to identify fish and such. I got up at 6:15am and left the house at 7:00am to get there by 7:40am, which I did so :D I even straightened my hair the night before so it wouldn't be a very angry mess after all the wind on the boat...:(

Got there, got on the boat at 7:45...stood around...looking awkward cause no one else was there yet and I had no idea what I was doing, it's my first day (actually working, it was my second day on the boat)! Then it's 7:55 and more people start coming around and a face I recognize :) the other intern James shows up. But no one else shows up...as in the group that they're supposed to take out on the boat and teach. They're supposed to board at 7:45am...but nobody. They wait around for a while, and we chat a bit. I mostly stand there looking awkward and lonerish. And so they're not going to go out if there's no group to take out. I waited around a while to see if there was anything else I could do, but it didn't seem like it and I was only planning on going for the AM voyage and not the afternoon, so since they weren't going out, I just said adios, and left. Arugh. so freaking frusterating.

Second days are always the worst. First day at the zoo, went fiiiine, nice keeper I worked with everything went well, left with all my appendages and fingers and toes. Second time I go in, suddenly there's a different keeper on that string, but no one tells me so I have no idea who I'm looking for, again looking awkward and lost. Then I meet her, she's nice, morning goes fine, after break, she leaves me to clean one of the night houses, fine. But I'm still new! so it took me a lot longer than I thought and I didn't have a key, so she left the fence locked and I was just going to jump over. Jumped over..half way, then fell the other half. ugh not graceful. Then I couldn't find her! ran literally all over the freaking zoo, like a chicken with its head cut off. Finally found someone with a radio and talked to her, she said "meet me at the main zoo" I thought that meant the main entrance, not the bottom of the zoo, so I wait there for 10 minutes, until I radio her again only to find she meant the bottom of the zoo. O.M.G. I was so wigging out that day and so stressed. I thought my head was literally going to explode.

Second days are never good. At least this saturday wasn't ...that that bad I guess...
Although on my way home today, after getting up at 6:15am on a saturday of spring break, and wasting $4 crossing a bridge only to come back home. A rock. hit my windshield...and left a big honkin' chip in it. ARUGH. I was so pissed, I wasn't even driving behind a big truck let alone anyone, the only car in front of me was a van in the next lane over. ARUGH. Now my nice windshield has a BIG effin' chip. and so do, on my shoulder.

I really wanted to go out on the boat today damnit.

Work hard, play hard.

Last week was the epitome of the saying, "work hard play hard"

As I predicted yeah, last week sucked. But that was a gross understatment. GROSS understatment. I had never been as mentally fatigued as I was on thursday afternoon, I was about ready to just breakdown. I don't know, tomorrow I find out if it was worth it because I get my results back, gah.

Friday I went to eat dim sum with elisa yay! that was definitely good and it was good to see her, I don't think I've hung out with her since we went to eat at Titos (chili's LOL) in mid january! :) although she got back to work late :( sorry 'bout that.

I guess it's good to start with the good :) Saturday I went to a training for the fish database internship thingie and I got there okay and the training, it was a little bit slow at points, but it was very informative. Also I got to go out on the boat later in the day to see first hand what an intern does. The people I've met so far have been really great and nice, very friendly and outgoing. The zoo's good, but people wise, not the most sociable volunteers there. After the training and before the boat we had time to go to lunch, so I went out and the only place I could find was Applebee's so I went in there, by myself...and when I entered the song "ALLL BYYYY MYYYYYSELFFFFFF DON'T WANNA BEEEEE ALLLL BYYYYY MYYYYSELF" was playing, LoL I was so cracking up. It was hilarous LoL On the boat, I got to check out some of the fish they caught, I'm definitely going to have to brush up on my fish identification...but hopefully by the summer, or maybe even spring I'll get better at it, and like with most things practice makes perfect. So I'm planning to do that in the summer.

After all of that fun and enjoyment in the day I went to chrissy's house at night :) I hadn't spent quality time with her in a really long time, so it was definitely good to have some laughs. Laugh inducing moments included a three teated cow, trying to put her puzzle together, billythewitchdoctor.com, making chrissy watch Ben Affleck striptease at a gay club, and last but certainly not least. Thank you myheritage.com I think I lost a few pounds from all that laughter. And from being a crackhead, some of the MANY celebs my heritage is linked to, donny osmond, some korean communist leader, viggo mortenson, the rock, this ooold lady Grace...uhm i can't remember her last name, but the eptome of an OLD white woman, GARY FREAKIN' BUSEY! THEY LABLED ME AS GARY FREAKIN' BUSEY! I was a crack head for the rest of the night.
They just traced chrissy back to all of these fobby asian girls. Me, I'm now Gary Teri Busey.

And Freakin' a. Chrissy has this lego block calender from hong kong which defeated both of us.

Sunday, less good :( So I got at the zoo to volunteer and like normal started preping the diets and such and the keeper got the rest of the diets, but as we were about to go, I notied one less bucket...so me and my friend were like, aren't we missing something? and then he told us that one of the sunbears died a few days before. Arugh. that was heartbreaking.

A few months ago, they had brought in a new sunbear from the San Diego Zoo because in SD they were trying to mate a male and another female and so this bear was sorta the third wheel and we had a very large enclosure here for only one bear so they thought they would try to put our sunbear and the san diego sunbear together. When she first got here they said she was very agressive and anxious and just a very bad tempered bear. Then they put them in separate cages next to each other, they didn't really get along, but that's pretty normal when introducing two mature females. They would bark and growl every once in a while, eventually it seemed to lessen slightly although both seemed pretty stressed. Since it lessened and it had been a few weeks, they decided to let them in the enclosure together to see how they'd do. They just fought and fought until the keepers could get one back into the nighhouse.

After that fiasco, they kept them separate and would just rotate them inside and outside, but after that fight outside, I could tell that Kaika (the sunbear which was here first) was just worn out and she wasn't pacing or anything unless Ting (the sunbear from san diego) started barking or growling. The past few weeks Kaika was just more submissive so I thought maybe they'd finally start to get along a bit better, but it turns out the life was just draining out of her. On Friday they found her comatose in the nighthouse and they couldn't wake her up, so she died. They did a necropsy and found that something made her lungs stop working, but the couldn't determine exactly what, so no conclusive answers were found, but the keepers basically say it was just the stress. I'm sure she was just shocked to have this new bear come in and then start challenging her, then they got into the fight which probably cause her to be a lot more nervous and stressed out. It was just not a good situation and she wasn't as young as she used to be, so it just consumed her.

There have been 2 other deaths on this string with the animals I work with. One was from advanced cancer, Spike, the othe sunbear was put down and then Macho one of our deers was also put down because he was getting very very old and stopped eating. Both of those were unpreventable, but this one was worse because it was a stress induced by the keepers so it might have been prevented. It could have gone either way though, ting could have been a great companion, they didn't know until they introduced them.

The whole thing just sucked because our keeper took it especially hard and it just made for a very depressing sunday. At least she's no longer under that stress...

At least saturday was good :) and today I got my art midterm back and I did pretty well on it, so there's always a balance to life.

Upppp and doooownnn

Well I'm looking into volunteer opportunities for the summer, I'm sorta excited, but next saturday I'll learn more about it and see how it goes. This up coming week though is going to seriously suck. LoL 3 exams :( OChem, Art History, Bio exam and bio lab practical. I just can't seem to get this information to stick in my head. My brain is acting very spazzy right now. LoL

My head in general is going so mental. I tell myself not to have expectations, but then it's so hard not to. I went to this dinner at the zoo, could have been ultra great, or ultra not, turned out ultra not LoL but I sorta prepared myself for that... eh, you live and learn. At least this place in Redwood City the people sound cool, and this is something that I'd really like to do in the future, work at an aquarium or do research on the boat. So it's hard not to get excited about it, although I haven't even been there yet so again, on saturday I'll know more.

I suppose I'm just writing in this now cause I don't feel like studying, although I have minimal time to cram all this stuff into my head, I shouldn't be just wasting it cause then I'll kick my self in the butt for it later. but it's just so hard to concentrat when the homework problems are filled with words like "cyclohexanecarbaldehyde" and "1,3-propanedithiol" seriously they should put those words in a lullaby and give them out to people with insomniac problems, it'll put them riiiight to sleep.

Too bad no one I know would want to do this, all my friends are doing job stuff for the summer, which is definitely more important than working for free LoL, and everyone at school in science classes are all doing something related to medicine or biochem...DRUGS DRUGS DRUGS! LoL *bangs head on desk*

Well at least this was in paragraphs..but I think paragraphs are all that remain of my sanity.

Celebrity Look alikes... or so they say...

The truth comes out, "My heritage" is really Korean or white...or mexican or...Fred Savage?! LoL

But I also ran one for elisa in that picture, hers is even more shocking!

Elisa's heritage traces back to...dun ddun dun 50 CENT! ...and the guy from Gilmore Girls?! (and now Supernatural)
Freakin' a! I seriously need to go out. I have not be out like just hanging out, in EONS (side note, if you ever are doing a crossword puzzle and the clue is something like "very long time" or whatever and its 4 spaces the word is usually "eons"). I need to go. I haven't done anyting fun in such a long time, and now that I only have 2 classes really I have a lot more time, so hm. Maybe next week I will attempt to make contact. (ha. that sounds something like that should be on star trek or something..."captians log 03032007 Next week we will attempt to make contact...") I'm a nerd. I really would like something to take my mind off of lame stuff that shouldn't even hold my attention LoL

plus Maria, if you're reading this...I need to give you your christmas present still LoL ... It's been wrapped up forever...and it needs to go to your loving home. I just have to get my lazy ass up and deliver it.

Happy Valentine's Day...or is it?

I really haven't posted any thing interesting cause nothing of much interest has happened to me. I live such a mundane cyclic life during school. (And during summer for that matter too lol) Maybe I should do something productive..."spice" things up a bit...or not.

Eh I've gone through the 5 stages of "grieving" Anger, denial...Curly, Moe, Larry LoL and now I could just care less. It's just another day in the shortest month of the year...that happens to be drenched in pink, red and white. I can do without the candy and any other teddy bears would just be donated with my othe stuffed animals I no longer want. In the end, it's good not to collect any other crap that I don't need and I can laugh harder at the anti-valentines day cards. Hallmark.com has a pretty damn good one LoL it's a little teddy bear that has a pull string you click and the first phrase is, "Did you know Valentine's day commemorates the hanging of Saint Valentine?" another phrase it says is, "Oh How I love you, Let me count the ways...wait, I don't have fingers...too bad." LoL as dead panned as a teddy can be. LOL :)

I'm just happy because I didn't have to get up at 6:30 this morning and I only have one class today and no other classes until Tuesday :) WHEE!

Advice of the Day

Don't get too involved with anything. When you get involved, you create expectations and when you have expectations all you get is dissapointment. So don't bother putting in all that effort to begin with only to have everyone at the end kick you when you're down.

Lacrosse

Nothing spectactular happened in life today, but I just felt like posting, haven't in a while, and I really don't want to do homework LoL. Spring semister sucks like that, I've used up all my work ethic during the fall semister, oops. Biology, we're finally moving up in the organizational life chain, to actual organisms and not just cells.

I have to check if I have to go jury duty on tuesday, it's almost exactly one year since they last called me in, I hope I don't have to go in this time, then I'll have to miss class and ugh. On the upside I do get to go to a hockey game that night :D WHOO!

Saturday night I went to my first Lacrosse game. LoL It was the men's professional lacrosse team, the San Jose stealth. Like a ninja, waaaah. So it was pretty fun, the general idea is get the ball into the net, which may sound easy but when you've got a goalie the size of the net...not so easy. LoL

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
I want to be a lacrosse goalie for Halloween. :D

It was a fun game to watch even though I still have no idea how the hell it's played. Guys are running on and off the field all the time and whistles, buzzers and horns are going off too, it's MADNESS! On the field guys are whacking each other with their sticks and shoving around. Plus they're running in shorts, I don't think I've ever seen a sporting event with guys running around in shorts LoL some of them have really skinny legs, like chicken legs...I'd trade 'em for my tree stump legs.. LoL they have 4 quarters and some really lame dancers the "spy girls" :( I guess I was never a fan of cheerleaders...We lost 11-10, bummer, but we had really good seats :) If free tickets come around again I'd go :)

School is alright, it's only been two weeks though, my art history instructor is very wordy which can get annoying cause she'll spend 3 minutes saying something that should only take 30 seconds, but she's seems pretty cool and everyone has said pretty good things about her. Bio...I'm not sure, I've heard of her fury, but she has yet to unleash it on us...she is very...stern? I'm not sure if that's the best way to describe her, but she's not someone that really jokes around much.
Chem is alright, same instructor and my other friend from physics is in there so yay :) I found out Nick is in the other section which is intersting, I suppose I may get infrequent updates from my other friend who's in that section too. Next time I pass him maybe I'll get more than a "hi" in LoL
I guess I should try to get back to school work...for just an hour :)

"First Day of My Life"

...That's all I want, just to say to someone, "I'm glad I didn't die before I met you..." It's all I'm asking for... :)

Cleaning.

I don't clean very often...but when I do it's some pretty heavy duty cleaning. So far I have a huge bag of about 20 lbs. worth of stuff to recycle, lots of old school work, old stuff and what not. And I have about 15lbs of trash stuff misc. stuff that can't be recycled.

It's been a few years since I've done a clean through and what I've found is that I like to keep stuff, random crap just in case, mostly stuff with dates on it and stuff that I think I'll want in the future for memories. But after having a few years without looking at it or touching it or missing it, I find I can live without it and chuck it. Which is good, it feels good to clear out some of the clutter. I think there might actually be room to sit down in my room now. I got rid of a lot of pictures random crap that I thought I should keep around, but really it's doing no one any good.

I gave a bunch of stuff to my sister for her "class store" thing, an incentive program when she has her own class. A good way to get rid of old crap that you're not going to use any more, small erasers, stickers etc. LoL herm, out with the old, in with the new yeah? :)

It's still madness in here though, sorta like when you dust at first all the dust flys up everywhere and it seems dustier than when you started but as it settles and gets wiped off everything ends up cleaner. Things havnen't quite settled yet, but I've got a lot of excessive clutter out :)

(Along with the cathartic feeling I've gotten from cleaning, I've also found $20 in an old pair of jeans, $30 in a birthday card [but I also owed $30 to my sister for our parent's gift LoL], $27 from an old target gift card and an aeropostale gift card :D WHOO!)
Break over, Back to cleaning up.
